Manor Lords is a strategy game that lets you experience the life of a medieval lord. Transform your starting village into a bustling city, manage resources and production chains, and expand your lands through conquest.
Inspired by the art and architecture of late 14th century Franconia, Manor Lords prioritizes historical accuracy wherever possible and uses it to inform both gameplay mechanics and visuals. Common medieval tropes are avoided in favor of historical accuracy to make the world feel more authentic, colorful, and believable.
ORGANIC CITY BUILDING
Manor Lords offers a gridless city-building experience with full freedom of placement and rotation. Building mechanics are motivated by the growth of true medieval towns and villages, where major trade routes and the landscape influence how settlements are shaped and developed.
Build your residential, commercial, and industrial zones, radiating outward from a central market, following the natural layout of the land. Build farms based on soil fertility, position hunting grounds according to animal populations, and ensure access to adequate resource beds and forests to provide the raw materials for growth.
Assign residential areas and watch your residents build their homes in accordance with the historic burgage plot system. Each zone will be subdivided based on your roads and the allocated space and the houses will be scaled accordingly.
Build extensions behind larger houses to generate income and resources that wouldn’t otherwise exist. Homeowners don’t just pay taxes – they grow vegetables, raise chickens and goats, and otherwise provide themselves and other townspeople with basic needs beyond what your managed farms, pastures and industries can provide.

RESOURCES MANAGEMENT
From boots to barley, from hides to honey, the Mansion Masters have a wide variety of contemporary goods. Materials need to be transported through production chains and converted into finished products, and you must balance your people’s basic needs with a desire to produce luxury goods to ensure happiness, produce merchandise for export, or make weapons and armor to aid in your conquests.
Resources abound on the map, encouraging you to expand and build multiple custom settlements. Villages dedicated to farming, herding, or hunting provide the grain and meat needed to feed your growing population while mining valuable ores from your colonies.
The uncontrolled expansion will have a direct impact on the environment. Deer herds will move away from encroaching on civilization, lack of crop rotation will worsen soil fertility, and cutting too many trees will cause deforestation.
Sell surplus goods to traveling merchants or set your own trade routes. Producing and exporting quality goods will provide wealth to upgrade your city, pay taxes to your country, hire mercenaries, and unlock technologies for new industries, products, and vehicles.
MEDIEVAL WARFARE
Yours is nothing more than a small parcel of land in a vast territory, and rivalry ambitions between you and neighboring lords will inevitably lead to conflict. Lead your people into battle, not as easily refillable expendables, but as your dear loyal subjects, for whom every death is a considerable cost.
Train an entourage of skilled warriors to fight in battles alongside the mortars you collect from the town militia. At times these soldiers will be needed to crush rebellions or suppress banditry, and at other times you will lead your men into battle to conquer or defend your lands. When needed, mercenaries are a costly option to strengthen your ranks.
A solid diplomacy system will allow you to communicate with other lords, using influence or threats to influence their actions. These rival lords have their own goals and will seek you out as well, and your response to their offers or insults can mean the difference between war and peace.
Command real-time tactical battles, taking into account fatigue, weather conditions, and equipment. Position your troops wisely – a smaller force can defeat a larger enemy if well-commanded.
Feel the cost of war even in victory, as each fallen soldier represents a missing person from your city. A pyrrhic victory can spell economic doom or a rationing winter of food and firewood.
