Big video game announcements coming this April

Indie game studios promise us “bangers”, soon to be unveiled in a joint presentation.

It’s only just entering the spring season, but video game developers are already warming up. Some studios have come together to put together a special event dedicated to the announcements of upcoming titles. Among the organizers are the teams behind Dead Cells, Slay The Spire, Deep Rock Galactic, and Darkest Dungeons. Only renowned independent studios are preparing a conference of more than 45 minutes called the Triple-I Initiative.

In their communication, they use the word “bangers” to describe the games that will be unveiled. The appointment is given, you will have to connect on Twitch or YouTube on April 10 at 7 p.m. The program has not yet been revealed, but there are a few indications that there will surely be the cream of the indie games to come.

The organizers bait us with four terms: new gameplay, world premiere announcements, demos, and surprise releases. Of all the games that will be announced, some will be available on the day, others will show their images for the very first time, and still others may well find out about release dates. The announcements will come from 30 different studios, so the result should be eclectic.

A mysterious program
At the moment, no one has any idea what the titles are behind this event. In spite of everything, it caused a reaction on the networks. Its name, which is inspired by big-budget AAA games, tends to create a new category of games. The triple I’s would be the top of the indie games, the ones that players can’t miss. Except that adding an additional name is not to everyone’s taste. Already when Ubisoft tried to explain that its games were AAAA, players were up in arms.

Nevertheless, although it tends to create a regular and strong event, the event is not intended to redefine the category of indie games, but rather to give it the importance it deserves. The budget of a video game does not predestine its success or its quality. Evil Empire, the studio developing Dead Cells’ DLC, explains that it’s a “straight to the point show, filled with announcements as a studio collective, to speak directly to players [without] segments of animation, commercials, sponsorships, extravagance, just games.” All that’s left to do is wait to discover the heart of the announcements that are already shaping up to be explosive.
